Welcome to the
Nant y Moch wind farm development website

About the Nant y Moch project:

"Nant y Moch wind farm development provides new development opportunities in the area".

Eluned Lewis, Community Liaison Officer for the Nant y Moch wind farm development.

.

SSE Renewables have recently informed the Planning Inspectorate (the Government agency responsible for examining applications for nationally significant infrastructure projects since the abolition of the Infrastructure Planning Commission (IPC)), that the planned submission date of a planning application for the proposed Nant y Moch wind farm is now Autumn 2012.

This is because we are looking to make some changes to specific sections of the planning application to reflect the further responses that we have received both during and since the formal consultation period.

We will be informing the local community shortly about the changes that we are proposing to make. We will provide a period of at least 28 days for consultation on these specific changes (as required by The Planning Inspectorate) and will publicise widely over the next few weeks how we intend to undertake this consultation.

SSE Renewables is the renewable energy division of SSE and is responsible for the development of onshore and offshore wind farms as well as hydro and marine projects.  SSE Renewables has been awarded an Option Agreement by the Welsh Assembly Government to seek planning permission to build a wind farm on FCW managed land at Nant y Moch, otherwise known as SSAD. The location of the proposed wind farm in mid Wales is located to the east of the A487 between Talybont and Nant y Moch reservoir in an area of Forestry Commission Wales land and privately owned agricultural grazing land.

Nant y Moch SSAD is an area of land identified by the Welsh Assembly Government as one of the seven strategic search areas suitable for the delivery of large scale wind energy generation. (Technical Advice Note TAN 8 - Renewable Energy, issued in 2005) These projects will support the UK's climate change agenda, contribute to Wales' renewable energy supply targets for 2010 and 2020 and ensure the future security of our electricity supply.
